Woodlands Winter Awareness Tips February, 2015

Brrrrr, it’s cold out there! Your attention please…..

Snow Removal Alerts: All vehicles need to be moved when Bill’s Landscaping arrives in your court to clear the snow during and after a storm. Be advised that cars may be towed if residents are not adhering to this request.

Decks should be cleared of snow after each storm. Minimally, a shoveled path from the unit’s slider to the base of the deck’s stairs is strongly encouraged. It is a critical emergency escape path should a fire or gas leak occur. Recently a gas leak occurred within our community. Are you prepared?

Deck Clearance Options:

*** Residents may elect to contact Bill’s Landscaping directly for individual deck snow removal. Individual inquiries can be made by calling (860) 749 0448. An applicable undisclosed fee is the individual resident’s responsibility.

*** Pay it forward by assisting a neighbor who would appreciate it.

All exterior gas vents must be cleared of snow after each storm. This includes furnace, water heater and dryer vents.

Carbon Monoxide Alarm Devices should be located on all levels of your unit.

Install new batteries in your Carbon Monoxide Alarm Devices.

These tips save lives!

Signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning may include:

  • Dull headache * Shortness of breath
  • Confusion * Weakness
  • Dizziness * Blurred vision
  • Nausea / Vomiting * Loss of Consciousness

Carbon monoxide poisoning can be especially dangerous for people who are sleeping or intoxicated. The fumes may be fatal before anyone realizes there’s a problem.

If you suspect you’ve been exposed to carbon monoxide, get into fresh air immediately and seek emergency medical care. If possible, open windows and doors on the way out of the house.
