Frontier

Early next year, Frontier will be installing fiber internet at the Woodlands.  This is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) list that might answer some of your questions about the fiber service being installed soon:

Do I have to have Frontier fiber as my internet provider at the Woodlands?
No, you can still use your existing internet provider.

What is the difference between what I am using now for my internet service compared to Fiber Internet?
Fiber internet does not use copper so it is faster than older internet services.  Since the wire is made of glass, there is no interference from corrosion or electrical sources.

Will I have to give up my DSL if I decide not to go with Frontier Fiber?
At this time, no, you won’t have to give up your DSL, however, there is no guarantee that Frontier will continue with traditional phone service or DSL.  At this time, Frontier is no longer installing new DSL service and will start to phase out DSL service.

What should we expect to happen at the Woodlands?
When Frontier starts work, they will need to dig trenches around the units.  They will install boxes outside of each unit called “D-Marcs.”  Should you decide to get fiber service, they will run fiber into your unit and you will need a fiber modem to attach to your network.

Should I contact Frontier about getting fiber internet service?
No, Frontier will let you know when it will be available for your to sign up.
